Who is Indee?
A multi-disciplinary designer who indulges in photography, graphic design, film making, user experience, 3D modelling and product design. Currently exploring the world of editorial design.
A firm believer in continuous learning.
What inspires Indee?
I find my purpose as a designer with immense fervour for photography and filmmaking, in the delicate network of creation—a designer who is driven by the need to curate experiences and create connections that would surpass space and time. As a designer hailing from Kerala, a state of India, I feel deeply for the land that I’ve grown up in and I naturally tend to draw inspiration from its rich tradition and cultural heritage. Kerala to me is not just a place; its home, and I see myself as a custodian of the unique identity and creative legacy, withholding the responsibility of keeping it alive for the generations to come. My belief in design, and its ability to bridge cultures, and surpass boundaries brings me hope for our local communities and their beloved art that ought to reach audiences around the world; with this, I also wish to free my internalised sense of under appreciation for my culture. As each day of my life passes as a designer, I’ve realised that it’s difficult to separate culture from its beholder, which drives me to carry forward my inquisitiveness for my homeland.
How does Indee see the world differently?
As a person who visualises colours differently. my world is one that is stipulated by adaptability, intuition and accessibility. Being a colourblind designer, I find peace in making tools that help different creatives in the world, to empower people that go through the same, understanding the importance of empathy and letting them know that they are not alone. This has helped me form a thorough appreciation for the power that design holds to transcend the limitations of perception, to drive social change and to cultivate inclusive growth.
How did Indee get here?
As I grew up capturing photographs at a very young age, I found my voice through photography. It has provided me with a solid foundation in humane principles of authenticity and vulnerability, and has extensively shaped a lot of my design practice today. I use movement and momentum in my films and photography to create stories with intentional yet intuitive rhythm. Everywhere I look, I see a composition. Exploring different genres of photography has helped me form my visual identity and art style that I encompass today, however, I strongly believe that although genuine, it’s never constant. I’m glad it isn’t because it makes me learn new things every day.
